Independence and who makes LMC 8.4

Google Camera is Google’s app for Pixel phones. LMC 8.4 is a third-party modification of Google Camera 8.4 made by the modder Hasli; its release notes say it is heavily based on Shamim’s SGCam 8.4 and credit work from Arnova8G2, BSG and BigKaka. BSG (MGC) and Shamim (SGCam) are separate GCam ports by other developers.

This website is none of these. We are an independent publisher. We have no relationship with Google, Hasli or the other modders, and none of them has reviewed or endorsed this site. “LMC” is sometimes expanded as “Leica Mod Camera”, but LMC 8.4 has no connection with Leica.

Editorial policy

Research

Release dates, variant names, package names and changelog items come from the developer’s release listing on celsoazevedo.com, a long-running community index of Google Camera ports. Details about the file we host are read from the file itself (its manifest, size and SHA-256 checksum). Where a page gives general advice, such as which release tends to be more stable on MediaTek phones, we say that it reflects common user reports.

Testing and compatibility

We only describe a device as tested when we have tested it ourselves, and we say which build and date. Where a device or APK has not been independently tested by our team, we say so instead of presenting compatibility as confirmed. Device lists on this site are models commonly reported to work, not guarantees.

Configs

When we mention a specific config, we name its file, the phone it was made for and its creator as listed in the public config index. We do not invent config names or present untested configs as recommended.

Updates and corrections

We update pages when a release, file or recommendation changes. If you find a mistake, tell us through the contact form with the page address and what is wrong. We check the correction against the sources above and fix confirmed errors promptly.

Sponsored content and links

We do not accept payment for articles or links. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored. We link to other sites only when the link helps readers, for example to a developer’s release page or official documentation. We do not link to gambling, betting or unrelated app-download sites.

Advertising

The site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence on what we write, and ads are kept visually separate from download buttons, which are labelled with the exact file they download.

Use of AI tools

If we use AI tools to help draft or edit an article, a person checks every factual claim against the sources above before it is published or updated.

How we source and check APKs

Where our download comes from

The download on our homepage is LMC8.4_R13_Fix2.apk, the standard R13 Fix 2 build of LMC 8.4 by Hasli. This website provides a mirror of the file and is not the original developer. The file is hosted as a GitHub release and linked from the homepage. Other releases and variants mentioned on this site are not hosted by us; get them from the developer’s release listing.

What we check

  • That the package name and version in the file’s manifest match the release it is labelled as (for R13 Fix 2: com.google.android.GoogleCameraEngR13F2, version 8.4.300.414775575.18)
  • The exact file size and SHA-256 checksum, which we publish next to the download so you can confirm you received the same file
  • The minimum Android version, processor architecture and the permissions the app requests
  • The signing certificate. Like most GCam mods, LMC 8.4 is signed with the public Android test key, so the signature cannot prove who built the file; the checksum is the better check

We have not published a malware scan report for the file. You can upload the APK to VirusTotal or scan it with your own security app, and compare the SHA-256 checksum with the one on our homepage. No third-party APK can be guaranteed safe, and we do not claim that any file is.

Permissions the app asks for

LMC 8.4 asks for camera, microphone (video), location (photo geotags) and storage access, and declares full file access so it can read configs from the /LMC8.4/ folder. You can refuse location if you do not want geotags.

Risks of installing APKs

  • Apps from outside Google Play are not reviewed by Google. Android will warn you before installing; that warning is normal for sideloaded apps.
  • A modified or incomplete file can crash or behave unexpectedly. Always compare the file size and checksum.
  • Some variants reuse package names of other apps and may conflict with apps already on your phone.
  • You install third-party software at your own risk. Back up anything important first.

Reporting a suspicious file

If a download does not match the published checksum, your security app flags it, or it behaves suspiciously, report it through the contact form with “Security” in the subject. We treat these reports first and will remove the file while we investigate if the report is credible.
